James H. Sills Jr. Bridge Dedication Ceremony

Featuring comments (in order of appearance) by Stephanie T Bolden, Shaileen Bhatt, Chris Coons, Christopher Bullock, Thomas Gordon, Margaret Rose Henry, Robert Marshall, Jea Street, Theo Gregory, Dennis P Williams, and James H Sills Jr.

The North Market Street Bridge was officially renamed after former Wilmington Mayor James H. Sills Jr. Sills was the city's first African-American mayor and served from 1992-2000.

The dedication ceremony was held on Tuesday July 14th. The plaque reads as followed:

Brandywine Creek

This bridge is named for Dr. James H. Stills, Jr. to honor his service as a State Legislator, as the first African American Mayor of Wilmington and for his tenure as a Wilmington City Council member. His personal love, commitment and dedication to our city and state are unwavering.
