Howard Wildcats earn MaxPreps honor
The Howard High boys basketball team is one of 10 basketball teams being honored on the seventh annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps ranks more than 20,000 high school boys varsity basketball teams nationwide. Howard is ranked No. 73 in this week’s poll, with the final rankings to be announced Tuesday.
Howard finished its season with 18 straight wins, ending with a DIAA state tournament title game win over Sanford, the Wildcats’ fourth state title. Delaware Sgt. 1st Class Steve Ritchie presented Coach Chris DiMascio and the team with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy during a pep rally Thursday afternoon.
“Coach [Chris] DiMascio and the Howard Wildcats have proven on the court that they are among the nation’s truly elite high school hoops teams,” MaxPreps president and founder Andy Beal said in a news release. “We salute the coach, the young men on the team and Howard High School of Technology for a job well done.” (From Delaware News Journal)
